As American as apple pie. (That sentence was brought to you by the letter A!) That saying should really be edited to “as American as chocolate chip cookies”. Pie exists in other countries – usually less sweet, with fresher fruit and called tartes or something. I won’t ruin the rest of the pie parable for when I review Hostess Fruit Pies.
Anyhow, I did not know that chocolate chip cookies were invented in the 1930s by a woman who owned the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts (omg it all makes sense now!) They’re delicious. They ‘re way too sweet. They’re about as unhealthy as unhealthy can get. But by god, I love them regardless.
Grandma’s cookies are the much-loved, well-known, 99-cent option to crunchier gas station cookies like Chips Ahoy! I’m lucky that I’ve never developed the palate for them because these treats are notorious for haunting the area near the register at gas stations the country over.
The moist, cookie smell wafts up out of the bag when you look in to see the two compadres lying atop one another. So moist and fresh, the corner of the first one crumbles as I pull it out of the bag. Then comes the best part of my day.
As one may have guessed (or know from experience, you cookie-loving readers out there), this cookie is very sweet! I instantly taste a lot of chocolate. This is no surprise, as the cookie is littered with gooey hunks of choco. I was concerned that peanut butter and chocolate would be a bit much, but the chocolate flavor dominates while the peanut butter takes a backseat. Peanut butter is present mainly in that distinct sweetness and the fact that these dry out your mouth a bit!
Oreo may be milk’s favorite cookie. Grandma’s Homestyle Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunks Cookies have signed a 360 deal with milk, napkins and backup water.

Hi,
Thank you for liking DIY PR. I’d have responded sooner, but now that the book is out, I’ve been slammed, but in a good way. Hope all is well.
